If you are in Peru and you like wine, visit a wine farm.
Peru is not immediately known to many as a wine country, yet wine production in Peru has been on the rise in recent years. The best Peruvian wines come from the region around the city of Ica. If you are near this city, it is possible to visit a wine farm. During the visit, you will receive a tour and of course, you will also have the opportunity to taste. Did you know that Pisco (a Peruvian liqueur made from grapes) is also made on wine farms in this region? Pisco is the national drink of Peru and is part of the Pisco Sour cocktail.
Recipe for Pisco Sour for one person:
6 tablespoons Pisco
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons sugar syrup
1 tablespoon egg white
15 ice cubes
2 drops Angostura Bitters or Chuncho Bitters
Put the ice in a blender or cocktail shaker and then add all the liquid ingredients, except the Angostura. Grind it for 3 seconds or shake it for 8 seconds. Then pour it through a sieve into a glass. Then pour the drops of Angostura into the glass.
Tip: The wine farms are located outside the city of Ica and can only be visited by private transport. A tip is to have a private driver take you from Paracas to the Huacachina oasis after the excursion at the Ballestas Islands and to make a stopover at one of the wine farms. Some of the wine farms have a beautiful garden where you can have lunch.
