Sacred Valley Peru.

Sacred Valley Peru

The Sacred Valley of Peru is a beautiful, fertile valley with many remains from the time when the Incas ruled here. This is the valley from which the Inca expansion began. In its heyday, at the beginning of the 16th century, the Inca Empire was 4000 kilometers long and at that time it was the largest empire in the world in terms of territory.

Overnight in the Sacred Valley Peru

The Sacred Valley is located between the city of Cusco and the world wonder Machu Picchu. The valley is the starting point of several trails, of which the Inca trail Peru is the most famous.
A tip from us is to spend the night in the Sacred Valley, for example in the beautiful town of Ollantaytambo and spend one or more days in the valley. From the Sacred Valley Peru you can perfectly visit the salt terraces of Maras and also the world wonder Machu Picchu. If you wish to spend more time in the Sacred Valley Peru, we will be happy to tell you about the possibilities.

Tour Plan

Day to day

Sacred Valley Peru

During the Sacred Valley Peru excursion with participation in an international group you will visit Pisac, Chincheros and Ollantaytambo.

If you book the Sacred Valley Peru excursion with a private guide, we can put together the route exactly as you wish.

Pisac, the ideal place in Peru to buy souvenirs

Pisac is located a short hour's drive from Cusco. This village has a large market that is ideal for buying Peruvian souvenirs. The market used to be only on Sundays, but now it is open 7 days a week. Outside Pisac, in the mountains, lies the Inca complex of the same name, from where you have a magnificent view over part of the Sacred Valley in Peru.

The military fort Ollantaytambo

The beautifully situated fortress of Ollantaytambo had an agricultural, administrative, religious and military function during the Inca era. The fortress consists of high, steep terraces and is one of the few places where the Spanish lost a battle.

Chincheros, the birthplace of the rainbow

The lovely village of Chincheros in the Andes at an altitude of 3700 meters was known by the Incas as 'the birthplace of the rainbow'. Besides the village itself, the 'highlights' are the Inca ruins, the colonial church, the beautiful views and the colorful market. This market is also open 7 days a week, just like the market of Pisac.

The excursion to the Sacred Valley Peru lasts a whole day. Around 09:00 you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco and at the end of the afternoon you will arrive back at your hotel in Cusco.
