Day-by-Day Itinerary

In the morning, you will be picked up at your hotel. Once out of the city of Cusco, you will drive along a scenic route passing through the towns of Andahuaylillas and Urcos, among others. Along the way, you will see colorful locals heading to local markets or their fields where they cultivate their crops. Halfway along the route, you will see the Urubamba River for the first time, a river that originates high in the Andes Mountains and then flows through the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu further into the jungle.

After a one-and-a-half-hour journey, you arrive at the starting point for the Rafting Peru day excursion. You will go on a rafting excursion with a small group, accompanied by professional Class 5 guides. The rafting trip itself lasts a total of 2 to 2.5 hours and takes place on the Urubamba River. The fastest sections of the route are classified as Class 3 and 4. During the excursion, you will encounter beautiful rapids, and the water is very clean and clear. The surroundings, should you have an eye for them, consist of alternating rock faces and beautiful vistas of mountain formations in the distance. After rafting, there is a sauna at the base camp, among other amenities, that you can make use of. Lunch is provided during the excursion. At the end of the afternoon, you will be taken back to your hotel in Cusco.

Instead of 1 day, it is also possible to go rafting for 2 or 3 days.

During the 2-day Rafting Peru trip , you will go on a rafting excursion on both days, returning to a different section of the Urubamba River. Overnight accommodation is at a campsite alongside the river. You will fall asleep to the sound of a flowing river in the background.

On the 3-day Rafting Peru trip, you travel to the Apurimac River, approximately a 4-hour drive from Cusco. This river is also known as the most direct source of the Amazon and is therefore the longest river in the world. During this 3-day excursion, you will pass by remote canyons and see animals such as river otters, shelducks, and cormorants. Both nights are spent in tents on sandy beaches alongside the river.
